Logan

Name: Logan Butts
Age: 20
Occupation: Student
Length of Training: 4 years Judo, 2 years Jiujitsu

Tell us a little about how and why you started training martial arts? What made you stick with it? My Father taught me how to defend myself using gracie jiujitsu when i was 5-6 years old which led to my interest in judo at 9 years old. I really sucked at judo for a long time, but I rose to the challenge of competition with a little push from my sensei, and this feeling of facing my fears pushed me to continue to get better no matter how hard it was.

How has martial arts &/or No Limit influenced your life? Doing martial arts has completely changed my life! My no limit family inspires me to be the best person that I can be in everything that i do in my life.

You went to Worlds earlier this year, what was that experience like for you? Worlds was an awesome experience, it changed my perspective on jiujitsu. It showed me how incredibly talented and hard-working world champions truly are, and it showed me that they are also just people like you and me, and we can reach those heights if we put our mind to it.

Why do you compete? I like to tell myself that everything I do on the mats is for my future students.. when i compete, it forces me to train hard and become a better martial artist so that one day i can be the best teacher i can be, and hopefully teach as many people as possible how to defend themselves.

What are some of your short term and long term goals? Short term, I just want to get one percent better as a grappler and as a person each day. As for long term, I just want a successful gym of my own one day when I’m ready.

How do you balance work/school/training? Well its not too hard because I currently dont have a steady job, but on days that my school keeps me from the gym, I make sure to train extra hard on my own. (Yoga, plyometrics, BJJ solo drills)

What would you tell someone wanting to start Jiu Jitsu? I would say that we grapplers arent over exaggerating when we rant and rave about the benefits of Jiu jitsu, and you should start training TODAY!

Anything else you’d like to say. Shout outs to your coaches/sponsors. Yes, id like to thank all of my coaches from Jae and Jess in Starkville to Randall, Becks, and the whole crew in the jackson area- love you guys. Also of course shout out to my sponsor @breakpointfc follow them on IG and check out their awesome gear! Oss!
